Inspired by the Californian lifestyle, Maizel-Clarke sought to design pieces that could connect with women who, like herself, were young at heart. Dogeared is a trendsetting fashion brand that creates handcrafted jewels and gifts in Culver City, California. Dogeared is committed to bringing positive energy into the world one jewel at a time, while maintaining awareness of the environment around them.

历史

Dogeared Jewels & Gifts was founded in 1991, in Venice, California, by Marcia Maizel-Clarke. "As a buyer, she built a successful career on her expertise in fashion merchandising and retail strategy, along with her natural creative abilities as a designer." The response to her early designs and the success of her Make a Wish series of necklaces gave birth to the sucessful organization Dogeared has become today. What once started as a hobby later evolved into Marcia's works being sold at seven Macy’s stores and at the Rose Bowl Swap Meets. Dogeared Jewels & Gifts has grown from a small Venice Beach design studio to a southern California creative haven, where positive ideologies and values are mixed for the overall satisfaction of Dogeared's customers. Marcia continues to build the success of the organization with her husband and creative director Merlin Clarke.

Designer Marcia Maizel-Clarke has a passion for beautiful design. In 1991, that passion was combined with a desire to send good energy into the world and Dogeared Jewelry was born. Over the past 16 years Dogeared has stayed true to that original vision and continues to grow and capture the magic of words, symbols, wishes and dreams.

Everything we put out into the world is designed with the planet in mind. We are on a constant search for newer, more ways of doing business. All of our charms are hand cast in recycled sterling silver. We use recycled card stock and our boxes are made from recycled cardboard. We have incorporated repurposed leather, recycled glass, recycled saris, sustainable hemp thread, and even corn plastic into our collection. Being made in the USA means fewer miles travelled and a smaller carbon footprint. And every jewel is produced in the most environmentally responsible way possible -- by hand, in our southern California studio.

We choose grassroots organizations that are passionate about creating social change, and work with them to heal, educate, and support people around the world.
